Fruity Frozen Greek Yogurt

We are having a pretty mild winter, so far. Knock on wood. The Groundhog might even be wrong in his famous prediction for 6 more weeks of winter. At least I hope so. I’m ready for warmer days.

I think we all get a little stir crazy and antsy for spring by the time early February arrives. Maybe that’s why today is National Frozen Yogurt Day. We are thinking about cold treats and sunshine. And when the treat is a delicious, healthy option, that’s just an added bonus!

TCBY was the first to offer soft serve frozen yogurt back in 1981. I actually remember the grand opening in my area during the mid 80s. How’s that for dating myself? Wow. I feel old.

If you’re lucky enough to have a frozen yogurt maker or ice cream maker, this chilly treat is super easy and super fast to enjoy. But if you’re not so fortunate to have a miracle machine in your kitchen, you can still make this at home. It’s just takes a little more time and the texture and results will probably be different than what you’re expecting. Don’t get me wrong. It’s still delicious. And good for you. Low fat. Lower sugar. Healthy yogurt cultures.

This recipe for frozen yogurt is customizable. Use any type of fruit you like. Adjust the honey for your personal level of sweetness. Blend. Freeze. Blend. And enjoy! The extra blending after freezing helps to add additional air to the frozen yogurt making it ultra creamy. Get creative, grab a spoon and dig in! ♥️

Simple Fruity Frozen Greek Yogurt

1 – 10 oz bag frozen fruit

1 – 5.3 container plain Greek yogurt

2 tsp vanilla

3 Tbsp honey

In a food processor or blender, chop frozen fruit. Add remaining ingredients and blend again, occasionally scraping down sides to fully incorporate. Put in a container with a tight fitting lid and freeze for 1 hour. Take out and blend a second time to soften and incorporate air for a creamy texture. Enjoy!
